Dear Friend,
We are really happy and excited to invite and welcome you as a valued contributor to this New Publication, which is a brainchild of our visionary Executive Director, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, who himself is a renowned academician, researcher, and administrator. AIIMS Bhopal is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and has been endowed with the responsibility to improve not just healthcare delivery but also improve standards of medical education and research in the country.
The very idea to start this Journal was to further nourish the environment of academia and to provide a platform for all aspirants wherever they are, to showcase their work and views. It’s a new venture for us and we see an exciting journey to achieve a mark on the scientific world. But we are sure that with the varied talent and experience of our ever-enthusiastic team, it will be an enriching experience for everyone involved in the process, including our contributors. And for that we are making sure that the foundations are laid on strong footings so that the journal withstands the test of time and emerges out as a high impact publication in years to come.

Though it is currently not indexed, but we are making sure that in due course of time, we shall achieve all coveted indexing certifications thereby enabling you to obtain the credentials your work deserves. About the Journal
FUTURE HEALTH, is the proposed official publication of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal, which shall be a Triannual peer-reviewed print and online journal. The inaugural edition of the journal shall be launched on 15th August 2023 and the journal’s full text is available online at https://www.aiimsbhopal.edu.in/. The journal shall allow free access (Open Access) to its contents and shall not charge any fees for submission, processing, or publication of manuscripts.
High quality articles relevant to health issues pertaining to the region, as well as in the national and international context (especially relevant in the context of low-and-middle income countries) are invited from academicians, biomedical and public health researchers, health administrators and policy makers, clinicians, healthcare workers and students. Articles with clinical interest and implications will be given preference.

Scope of the journal
FUTURE HEALTH publishes double blind peer reviewed high quality biomedical research articles in the form of original research articles, review articles (narrative reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analysis), case reports, letters to Editor, brief communication, editorials, photo essays, and news & views in the domains of basic health sciences, laboratory-based sciences, translational medicine, surgical sciences, dental sciences, critical care & trauma, public & mental health, hospital administration, nursing, AYUSH, medical education from around the world. All original articles, case reports and any other type of article reporting data on humans or animals needs to have an ethical clearance from a registered and recognized local Ethics committee.
Publication frequency
Three issues will be published each year, out of which, one entire issue would be dedicated to one specialty/subject each year.
Abstracting and Indexing Information
The journal is being initiated following all the guidelines to get included in major indexing databases such as Medline, Scopus, DOAJ etc in due course of time.
Journal Ethics
We are committed to meeting and upholding utmost standards of ethics during all stages of the publication process. We will closely follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), that set standards and provide guidelines for best practices in order to meet these requirements. Plagiarism Policy
The journal will be using industry standard plagiarism check software already being used at AIIMS Bhopal. Any manuscript, that is found to have more than acceptable similarity report shall be subject to revision, and failing improved will be rejected.
Digital Archiving
The details of this will be provided and uploaded on the journal website as we partner with a publisher, which is currently in process. All articles, current and future, published in this journal will be assigned a DOI number.

Peer Review Process
-
The Editorial Policy
- A manuscript will be reviewed for publication in the Journal of Future Health provided it is being submitted to Future Health alone at that point in time and has not been published anywhere, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere.
- The Journal expects that authors would authorize one of them (the corresponding author) to correspond with the Journal for all matters related to the manuscript.
- All manuscripts received by the Journal will be duly acknowledged and given a Manuscript Number.
- On submission, editors review all the submitted manuscripts initially for suitability for a formal review. Manuscripts that lack sufficient originality, have serious scientific or technical flaws, or lack a significant message shall be rejected before proceeding for a formal peer-review. Manuscripts that are beyond the scope of the Journal are also liable to be rejected at the editorial level.
- Manuscripts found suitable for publication in the Journal of Future Health will be sent to two or more expert reviewers for Peer Review.
- During submission, the contributor is requested to provide names of two or three qualified reviewers with appropriate technical expertise as per the submitted manuscript; however, this is not mandatory. The reviewers should not be affiliated with the same institutes as the contributor/s. The authors can also provide a list of three reviewers to whom the manuscript should not be sent and with reason. However, the selection of these reviewers is at the sole discretion of the Editor.
- The Journal follows a double-blind review process, wherein the reviewers and authors are unaware of each other's identity.
- Every manuscript is also assigned to a member of the editorial team, who makes a final decision based on the expert reviewers' comments.
- The comments and suggestions (acceptance/ rejection/ major or minor amendments in the manuscript) received from reviewers are conveyed to the corresponding author. If required, the author is requested to provide a point-by-point response to reviewers' comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript. This process is repeated till reviewers and editors are satisfied with the manuscript.
- Manuscripts accepted for publication are copy edited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and formatting.
- Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author before final prints. The corresponding author is expected to return the corrected proofs within three working days. It is not possible to incorporate corrections received after the mentioned time period.
- The whole process of submission of the manuscript to a final decision (including sending and receiving proofs) is online.
- All the manuscripts are subject to final editing by the Editor and the Editorial Board. Deletion of certain unacceptable terms from the manuscript or grammatical correction or final reformatting to comply with the publication standards performed at the final Editor's draft stage will not be forwarded for author approval.
- To achieve faster and greater dissemination of knowledge and information, the Journal publishes articles online as 'Ahead of Print' immediately upon acceptance.
- Articles shall be submitted under Medical Sciences, Surgical Sciences, Basic & Translational Science, Public & Mental Health, Dental Sciences, Critical Care & Trauma, Nursing, AYUSH, and Medical Education and Teaching Methodology.
Evaluation procedure
The journal follows a Double-blind review process. All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor-in-chief for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable (those which passed through the initial editorial review/desk) are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. Editors shall not be involved in decisions about papers which they have written themselves or have been written by family members or colleagues or which relate to products or services in which the editor has an interest. Any such submission is subject to all the journal's usual procedures, with peer review handled independently of the relevant editor and their research groups
Initial screening: The manuscript shall be desk reviewed by the Editor, and if needed, opinion is also sought from one of the Chief Associate Editors. Some manuscript especially those falling in below categories can be desk-rejected:- Not sufficiently original
- Has serious scientific flaws
- Has extremely poor grammar or language
- Is outside the aims and scope of the journal
- Does not adhere to the ethical standards prescribed by the Journal.
Peer review process
The subsequent peer-review shall be completed within three weeks of acceptance by the peer reviewer to review the manuscript with provision of extra time, if requested by the reviewer.
How the reviewers are selected?
Whenever possible, reviewers are matched to the manuscript according to their expertise. Reviewers are asked to assess the vigor of the manuscript under the following domains:- Originality of the work in terms of idea and methodology (including data)
- Is methodologically robust
- Results clearly presented and addresses the objectives and support the conclusions
- Accurately and exhaustively cites relevant extant literature
- Follows concerned ethical guidelines, including those related to plagiarism
- Clearly enriches the current knowledge and development of the field
Suggested reviewer:
Title, Name (First & Last), Designation, Affiliation, email id, reason for suggestion
Against reviewing:
Title, Name (First & Last), Designation, Affiliation, email id, reason for suggestion
Who can be the suggested reviewer?
The author does not have published work with in the last three years, not from the same department and institute.
Disclosure by the peer-reviewer
Before reviewers proceed to review a manuscript, they are requested to disclose if they have any potential conflict of interest in relation to that particular manuscript. If any conflict of interest is revealed, the Editor-in-Chief will assess the magnitude of the conflict and assign the manuscript to the same or another reviewer. The main focus of the review shall be the scientific vigor or relevance of the manuscript; although correction of errors in the language is not an critical part of the peer-review process, the reviewers are encouraged to suggest corrections of language and style. The reviewers informs the Editor-in-Chief to accept or reject the manuscript or to request the author(s) to revise the manuscript in a minor or substantive way.
In the rare cases when it is challenging to find a second reviewer or when the second reviewers’ report is not obtained in the extended period of the permissible time, and when the one reviewer’s extant report has thoroughly convinced the Editor-in-Chief, a decision to accept, reject, or ask the author(s) for a revision may be made on the single review available.
Final decision of the submitted manuscript
In the next stage, an Associate Editor will perform an editorial rereview and suggest further revisions. The person may also assess subsequent revised drafts if any. If a decision about acceptance or rejection is not already taken, the Associate Editor may recommend the Editor-in-Chief on this. The Editor-in-Chief will make the final decision about acceptance or rejection and convey the same to the corresponding author. All manuscripts are checked for plagiarism before the final acceptance.
What happens with the revised manuscript?
The revised manuscripts, so obtained, may again be sent to one of or both the initial reviewers for re-review, and there may be further requests for revision.
