The Department of Radiodiagnosis at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 2013.
At present, the department has state-of-the-art diagnostic, interventional and research facilities. The total number of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures done in the department per year touches almost 1 Lac (including X-Ray, Ultrasonography, CT, MRI and interventional procedures) and the number is continuously increasing.
The following equipments and diagnostic facilities are available in the department:
Diagnostic Radiography:
State-of-the-art Flat panel Digital Radiography unit, Mobile digital radiography unit, providing OPD, IPD and 24hrs emergency services.
Mammography:
The department has a flat panel high-end 3D Digital mammography with Tomosynthesis with stereotactic and vacuum assisted breast biopsy unit.
Ultrasound:
The department has many high-end ultrasound colour Doppler machines (with few having capability for shear wave elastography and Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound)
Computed Tomography (CT):
One 256 slice dual source Dual Energy Scanner to perform noncontrast and contrast study of various body regions including CT Coronary angiography, CT perfusion, dual energy CT for renal calculus.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): The department has one 1.5 T MR and one 3T MR Scanner including facility for cardiac MRI, multi parametric breast and prostate MRI, perfusion MRI, Diffusion tensor imaging, functional (BOLD) imaging.
Digital Subtraction Angiography:
Hi end bi plane Digital Subtraction Angiography unit is available in the department, and we routinely perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including angiography, angioplasty, stenting, radio frequency and laser ablation. Dedicated vascular and interventional Radiology OPD clinic was started in Feb 2018. On an average 12-15 patients attend VIR clinic per OPD day and the number is increasing.
The department organizes systematic and effective teaching programs for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. The department started postgraduate course (MD Radiodiagnosis) in the year 2017. The annual intake of students at present is 8.
The faculties and residents of the department are actively involved in various academic and research activities. There are 2 intramural and 4 extramural ongoing research projects. 1 project completed and published. There are 6 publications from the department in various national and international peer reviewed journals. There are 12 Thesis Project running in the department. The department has conducted several CMEs and workshops individually and in collaboration with other clinical department.
