Vision and Mission

Established on : Tuesday, May 28, 2013
Our department has provided Ear, Nose, Throat and Head and neck Surgery services since 2013. We provide OPD, IPD, surgical, and 24/7 emergency services. We are also extending teaching and training to medical and nursing undergraduates and medical post-graduates and training the ENT specialists posted in the district headquarters of Madhyapradesh.

We have had a PG programme in our Department since 2018. As of Jan 2024, nineteen postgraduate students are enrolled. Apart from PGs, we have eight senior resident posts in the department. We are committed to training our residents to be amongst the best Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery faculty and surgeons. We routinely do outreach activities in various places inside and nearby Bhopal, like awareness about preventable hearing loss and risk factors and early identification of Head and Neck cancer. We are conducting otology and rhinoplasty workshops to train young budding surgeons nationwide.

1	Basic ENT Surgery	All basic ENT surgeries, including but not limited to tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy, septoplasty, tonsillectomy, functional endoscopic sinus surgery and endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), also performing Endoscopic orbital decompression, endoscopic optic nerve decompression, facial nerve decompression, Glomus tympanicum
2	Head & Neck Surgery	Surgery for oral cancers, laryngeal cancers, benign and malignant thyroid swellings, parotid tumours, jaw tumours, and sinus cancers, carotid body tumour excision is routinely done.
3	Cochlear Implantation	First Cochlear Implantation in government set up in Madhya Pradesh was performed at AIIMS Bhopal in 2016. This facility is available as a cashless facility to eligible candidates under government scheme(s). We also routinely implant cochlear implants in post-lingual bilateral severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss. Bone-anchored hearing aid (BAHA) surgery also started.
4	Skull Base Surgery ( Both anterior and lateral skull base)	Excision of skull base tumours, Angiofibroma excision, CSF Leak repair, parapharyngeal tumours, etc.
5	Aesthetic & and reconstructive surgery	We also provide surgical services for nose deformities (rhinoplasty) and ear and airway reconstructive surgery for airway (tracheal and subglottic) stenosis and reconstruction of primary defects during cancer surgery by local and regional flaps.
6	Emergency procedures	Esophagoscopy and bronchoscopy with foreign body removal, tracheostomy, deep neck abscess drainage, fractured nasal bone reduction, and cutthroat repair are also done.
7	Diagnostic procedures like Diagnostic nasal endoscopy, laryngoscopy (Rigid and flexible), Narrowband imaging	For diagnosis of oral, nasal, and laryngeal pathology
8	Speech, Language & Swallowing Unit	This unit provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for various communication and swallowing disorders.
